Mission
Freedom Riding Academy’s mission is to save lives and reduce injuries to military, veteran, and first responder motorcycle riders by providing motorcycle skills training.

Freedom Riding Academy supports military service members (active and reserves), veterans and first responders with access to lifesaving advanced motorcycle rider training and organizes special events that provide awareness into ‘best of breed’ safe riding practices to the greater armed forces/veteran/first responder riding community.

74% of motorcycle accidents involving Department of War (DoW) personnel occur on high performance motorcycles and the majority of the 74% are:

  • Involve junior enlisted personnel;
  • Single vehicle incidents; and
  • Are primarily caused by the rider’s inability to navigate a corner.

DoW mandated parking lot motorcycle safety courses have not changed this disturbing statistic.. Parking lot speeds do not replicate the realistic environment in which these fatalities are occurring.

Department of Transportation statistics show that over 31% of fatal motorcycle accidents involve excessive speed. A Canadian study shows that in 80% of serious motorcycle incidents the riders don’t brake at all or only abruptly apply the back brake. It is evident that a majority of riders do not know how to properly slow their motorcycles from speed utilizing the correct threshold braking techniques. Primarily because they have never been taught them and parking lot training doesn’t allow for speeds that replicate real-world riding.

Freedom Riding Academy supports advance riding curriculum that utilizes closed circuits (racetracks). These environments provide the safest venue possible to allow riders to learn and practice lifesaving skills at realistic speed. These types of advanced riding schools cost well over $2,000.00. A junior enlisted service member making $600 to $800 per week is typically unable to afford this type of advanced training. Therefore, many military and veteran riders lack the skills to safely operate high performance motorcycles.

Freedom Riding Academy is focused on supporting service members and veterans in the Southeastern United States. With a goal to expand to the mid-Atlantic and plans to eventually support service members nationwide.

Freedom Riding Academy will carry out this mission with the following programs:

  • Supporting Rider Training Focused on Advanced Skills – “Train as you fight”
  • Non-Clinical Outreach Events – Exposing Riders to Safer Options and Services Available
Skills camps are focused on making riders safer and the special events will focus on exposing service members, veterans, and first responders to safer riding options and services available to them.
