Mr. Matthew G. (Matt) Humphrey currently works as a Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider coach teaching new motorcycle riders to achieve the necessary licensing requirements. He is also working toward his parachute instructor rating with the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
Mr. Humphrey retired from the Marine Corps in 2020 at the rank of LtCol after spending a career as a Utility Helicopter pilot flying UH-1Ns and UH-1Ys. Throughout his career he held every instructor rating available to Marine Pilots, he ran the UH-1 division at the USMC’s most prestigious tactical aviation school, and commanded Marine Light/Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He finished his career in the training division of U.S. Special Operations Command where he stood up the certification and training team for Sub-Unified Commands.
He was educated at Western Maryland College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a focus in criminal justice. He holds Master’s Degrees from the U.S. Naval War College and the U.S. Army War College.
His hobbies include skydiving, hunting, fishing, and kayaking. His passion is motorcycle riding. In his role as an licensing instructor, he has a detailed understanding of the difference between parking lot courses and the skills required to ride safely in the real world. He currently owns several motorcycles, including Sport Touring, Cruising, and Hyper Sport motorcycles.
He and his wife Julia have two adult children, and they currently reside in Saint Petersburg, FL.
